When I refer to deepening into who and what we are, what does that really mean?
Simply put, it is the individual at the human and soul levels that deepens into itself, as who it is. And it is Ground noticing itself, as what it is. And then, the individual reorganizing within the context of Ground awakening to itself.
And within that simplicity, there is a lot of wrinkles and complexity…
The deepening into itself of the individual includes a deepening into a wide embrace of itself, in all its humanity and all its richness as a soul, and it involves a deepening into this as an developing individual, seamlessly embedded into the larger evolving world of form.
The Ground noticing itself involves a recognition of itself as void, and awake void, and awake void and form, and awake void and form and form as no other than that awake void itself… a field of awake void and form absent of center, absent of an I with an Other… a field that is somehow still functionally connected with a particular individual.
Before Ground awakens to itself, there is the appearance of a separate I placed on the individual. And after, this appearance goes away. Now, there is just an individual happening, but no separate I there at all. It is just happening as anything else in the world of form… happening on its own, living its own life… lots of doing but no doer.
From the perspective of other individuals, of Ground functionally connected with other individuals and not awake to itself, it looks very much as if that individual woke up. It is filtered through a sense of a separate I, of a doer as well as the doing, so there is also the appearance of a doer over there, one that happened to mysteriously awaken. But no, it is just the Ground awakening to itself while functionally connected with that individual, and the individual is reorganizing in that new context.
Before Ground awakens to itself, the individual is taken as an I with an Other. In a sense, the human self believes it is the ultimate I, which then, obviously has an Other as the rest of the world. After Ground awakens to itself, the individual realizes there is an absence of an I with an Other there, other than in a conventional, pragmatic and relative sense.
After Ground awakens to itself, the individual reorganizes within that new context. If it previously operated in a way that was very different from what is now revealed, the gulf is wide and the reorganizing extensive (and can appear quite dramatic). If the gulf was less wide, the reorganizing is a little less dramatic, although still significant.
After Ground awakens to itself, there is an absence of I with an Other, just a field of awake void and form. When the individual functions within this context, it will naturally live its life with (what appears as) love, compassion, and a certain form of wisdom. This is what spontaneously appears when Ground is awake to itself and an individual reorganizes with in.
When Ground is awake to itself and an individual reorganizes with in, the individual continues to heal, mature and develop within this new context. There is no end to this process, as long as the individual is around.
This continued maturing and development of the individual includes its deepening into who it is on human and soul levels, and it also includes an exploration and development of skillful means… including ways to help relieve suffering of other individuals in a temporary way, and also in a more real way through aiding awakening. The maturing and development of the individual as actually in itself a part of the process of developing skillful means.
The Ground awakening to itself involves a noticing of itself as awake void, and of form as no other than this awake void, absent of an I with an Other. It also involves differentiation of the absolute (what is, as it is) and the relative (what is, filtered through stories), and seeing the relative for what it is… stories where all of their reversals also has a grain of truth in them, and which altogether cancel each other out to reveal the inherent neutrality of any situation.
