It seems that even brief daily practice over a few weeks can create measurable changes in the brain.
It’s perhaps not surprising. Any experience has a physiological correlate. Fleeting experiences are reflected in changes in physiological state. And more lasting changes, for instance in attention and empathy, will be reflected in structural changes.
And as many have discovered, regular periods of meditation – even if brief – do create a sense of a lasting and often deepening changes.
