Throughout our lives, confused parts surface to find liberation.
They surface to be seen, felt and loved, to be digested and their nutrients harvested, to align with reality.
As they do, they may fill our awareness partially or fully.
And they may be more or less identified with, and to the extent they are identified with, the “I” feels confused as well.
It’s a natural process.
Parts of us – subpersonalities – are formed within a confused worldview. They may feel wounded, confused, angry, sad, desperate, lost. And as any being, they wish for liberation from their suffering. So they surface to be seen, felt and loved. They surface to be digested, so something can be seen and learned. I may see what happens when the thoughts and fears behind it are believed, what’s more true, and how it would be to live from what’s more true. And they surface to align more with reality.
For me now, there is a shift between seeing these suffering beings as just that, as suffering beings surfacing to be seen, felt and loved, and of getting caught up in their worldview and resistance. That too is a natural process. There is a learning happening through those shifts. Something is seen.
I see that these parts have their own experience of the world, and these are formed by certain beliefs. When these surface, and there is identification with it, then “I” experience the world that way. I feel confused. Angry. Lost. Hopeless. I go into the stories that formed this part. It’s a way for life to go more deeply into it, to really see, feel and experience how it is to believe those stories.
When there is less identification, these parts surface and the same emotions and stories are seen and felt, they unfold to be seen and felt by life, and yet there is less struggle.
Through these shifts, there is also a seeing and feeling of the difference between the two. Life gets to see and feel how it is to actually believe and identify with the stories, and it gets to see how it is when these confused parts surface and it’s recognized as happening on it’s own.

- to the extent identified with, then “I” feel confused too…
