Sleep & Awareness

In dreamless sleep, there is no “I” and no “absence of I”, there is no choice, no preference, no doing. It is just what is, whatever happens to happen.

And as pure awareness, there is similarly no “I” and no “absence of I”, no choice, no preference, activity yet no doer and no doing. There is just what is. Phenomena coming and going as guests.

Both are choiceless, yet one is devoid of first person experiences (as far as I can tell) and the other is a first person experience.
