Love of beliefs and reactivity

Here are two different forms of love of beliefs and reactivity.

First, a love of stories as true, and of reactivity as expression of this truth. This is love filtered through beliefs and a sense of a me, a doer and an observer. A love of this separate self and its circle of us, and a way to try to protect this me and us. It may be mistaken and temporary, but is still an expression of love.

Then, there is appreciation and love of beliefs and reactivity as part of the play, as lila.

It seems that as we mature or awaken to what we are, the second love surfaces quite naturally. There is a gentle love for the play as it is. And in this gentle love, there may be a natural softening and release out of taking stories as true.

Since the second form of love comes with a recognition of the suffering that comes from taking stories as true, there is also another expression of love here. Love expressed as support for ourselves and others to shift into a love of stories as true, and into a love of the play as it is. A support to shift out of the first form of love of beliefs and reactivity, and into the second.

So we can love stories as true. We can recognize that love as part of lila, and love it as lila. And we can support ourselves and others to shift from the first form of love into the second, for no other reason than that the first one is more painful. It is out of alignment with reality, and that friction is uncomfortable.

outline….

  • love of beliefs + reactivity
    • love of beliefs as true, and reactivity as expression of truth (mistaken, temporary) (filtered through beliefs, sense of separate I)
    • love of beliefs + reactivity as part of the play, as lila
    • love in supporting ourselves and others to shift out of the first and into the second

There are two forms of love of beliefs and reactivity.

First, a love of beliefs as true and of reactivity as expressions of that truth. This may be mistaken and temporary, but is nonetheless a love for a particular story as true. It is also a love for the separate self and its circle of us, a way to try to protect me and us.

Then, a love of beliefs and reactivity as part of the play, as lila.

It seems that as we mature or awaken to what we are, the second love surfaces quite naturally. There is a gentle love for the play as it is.

And since this often comes with a more clear recognition of the suffering that comes from confusion, from taking stories as true, there is also another love. An expression of love through supporting oneself and others to mature, heal and – if there is receptivity and interest – for what we are to recognize and wake up to itself.
