Adyashanti: See what it’s like to go with rather than against

See what it’s like to go with rather than against. […]

As soon as you give yourself or someone else permission to be, total permission to experience what they are experiencing…. The fact you have given it permission to be, permission to exist, that’s what opens it up to what’s deeper. That’s what opens it to the deeper truth. As long as you are pushing against what is, even if you push against in a very sophisticated way, like “I am trying to let everything be, I am trying to allow, I am trying to surrender”. But really, the  only reason you are doing all that is to get rid of what you’re feeling. Inside, something deep in us know even when we are being a little teeny bit phony.

So when you call off all the phoniness, and you are just with what arises, no matter what it is. Like I said, even to the point where your whole system says: “No, I don’t want to do this”. And you say, “OK. You don’t have to do it ever. You can be this way forever, it’s fine with me”. When you give it permission to exist, then things open up. [….]

What you’ll see, is that things that are really cyclic, that you have done lots of work on, that you have been with lots of times, they just don’t seem to move… Often what you need to find is that place in you that says, “I don’t want to be doing it”. No wonder nothing has changed,  because “I really don’t want to go there, I don’t want to do anything”. And you haven’t completely made that OK. As soon as that level of resistance is OK, then there is no phoniness in you at all, at all. You are being totally real, totally honest, and that’s when things are opening up.
