Thank you for doing such an important job

I had a conversation with a friend a few days ago, where we talked about loving what’s here – including the discomfort, the emotional pain, physical pain, distress, stressful images and words, and whatever else is here. We – as individuals and culture – have for so long rejected certain parts of ourselves and our experience, and here and now is where it can be met with love. I can meet what has previously been shunned, and also the impulse to shun it. We are doing this for our own sake, and for the world’s sake.

It’s a hugely important job, especially as the world is today. And it’s a job that’s often “invisible”. I know many who do this as a full time job, or nearly full time job, and others may not see or know what’s going on.

So why not thank ourselves and others for it? Why not wake up in the morning, and say thank you for doing such an important job. And thank others as well.
