The Matrix and layers of discovery

Something is obviously going on in The Matrix that were not sufficiently explained in the initial trilogy: How come the oracle, a machine program, is helping the humans? How come Neo is able to transfer his powers within the Matrix to the real human world?

There is a simple solution to this: The “real” human world, as we see it in the initial trilogy, is also a machine program.

Matrix 4 may reveal this and delve into another layer of this world. It would be a simple reveal with major implications, tie up loose ends from the initial trilogy, and open up for additional complexities and interesting new storylines. It would also turn upside-down and inside-out the assumptions most people have about the initial trilogy and put it all in a new and different context. In a sense, it would make the initial trilogy new again. This twist would create a lot of richenss and new complexities to the overall story.

If we take this as a mirror for our own experience and life, what do we find?

In just about anything we explore, we keep discovering new layers. We have new insights and discoveries. We may find themes and underlying patterns. We find essentials. We may see it all in new and different contexts. And so on. There is always more to discover and new layers to what we are exploring. And at times, we discover something that turns everything upside down and inside out.

And so also when we explore who and what we are.

Whether we explore our own personal psychology or how the human mind and system works more in general, we’ll keep having new discoveries – in terms of dynamics, layers, contexts, and so on.

And we if explore what we are more fundamentally, in our own first-person experience, it will be similar.

Our perception and understanding may go through several shifts turning everything inside-out and upside-down. The context for it all may shift. Even what we take as most fundamental and essential may turn out to be a layer eventually revealing something else.

I may go into some specific examples in another article.

THE MATRIX & LAYERS OF DISCOVERY

There is obviously something going on in The Matrix that’s not explained in the initial trilogy: How come the oracle, a machine program, is helping the humans? How come Neo is able to transfer his powers within the Matrix to the real human world?

There is a simple solution to this: The “real” human world in the initial trilogy is also a machine program.

In a sense, it would make the initial trilogy new again, and many would want to watch it again from this new context.

If we take this as a mirror for our own experience and life, what do we find?

In just about whatever we explore, we keep discovering new layers. We have new insights and discoveries, we may find underlying patterns, we often find essentials, we may understand it all in new and different contexts, and so on. There is always more to discover, and new layers to what we are exploring.

And so also when we explore who and what we are.

If we explore our own psychology and issues, we typically keep having new discoveries, find underlying issues and patterns, see things more in context, and find different contexts to understand it all within. And if we explore how the mind and human system works more generally, it’s the same.

If we explore what we are, we may find a similar process. Our perception and understanding may go through several shifts turning everything inside-out and upside-down. We keep discovering more. The context for it all may shift. Even what we take as most fundamental and essential may turn out to be another layer eventually revealing something more fundamental and essential.

I may go into some specific examples in another article.
