Documentary: Fastest woman on Earth

I just saw The Fastest Woman on Earth which I found very moving, and gave me a more rich story than I had when I read about it in the news some years ago.

What stood out to me was her dream. Three times, she had the same dream. She dreamt she was in the cockpit, seeing herself from the outside as if she was not in her body. She said she felt she was leaving this plane of existence, and it was OK. This was not long before she died in a crash in the same car.

There are many stories like this, and I suspect a part of her knew what was going to happen, and also that dying is OK.

It resonates with a few of my own experiences. I have dreamt of things that later happened exactly as in the dream, including someone dying. I remember an out-of-body experience from very early in life, where I hovered over my body and saw events later confirmed by my family. As a child, I remembered the time before this incarnation, of being consciousness without a physical body.

I also remember Jung writing about these kinds of dreams. The dreams that predict our actual death tend to not literally depict our physical death. They are often more abstract, like this one. Although it’s possible that this one was literal in a different way: It’s very similar to what people describe from near-death experiences (NDEs).
