If I hear someone say something about their process that sounds a bit exaggerated – I have reached full awakening, I healed this issue completely, and so on – this is the kind of image that comes to mind.
Life has a way of testing and humbling us, and that’s how it should be. Anything out of alignment with reality would be worn off if we lived long enough. It wouldn’t survive the inevitable and long series of experiences showing us it’s untrue.
If we tell ourselves something exaggerated, it’s because we feel we need it. We try to find a sense of safety in it. It’s innocent, and we set ourselves up for some struggle when life inevitably shows us something different.
For me, it’s more comfortable to admit that I don’t know.
Healing. I have no idea of what’s been healed in me and not. I know very well that life can put me in certain situations that will trigger issues that have not visited for a long time, and seemed to go away after some healing work. There are always more layers and underlying and interconnected issues. Some issues go dormant for a while, for whatever reason, and then come back up again.
Exploring my nature. I know that in terms of getting familiar with my nature, there is always more to explore, clarify, deepen into, and so on.
Living from oneness. In terms of living from my nature noticing itself (AKA oneness), there is a lot further to go. There are many parts of me, of my psyche, that still operate from separation consciousness, wounds, trauma, and so on. They inevitably color my perception and life, sometimes get triggered, and I sometimes get caught up in them too.
In all of these areas, I have just dipped my toes in the water.
That’s the case with any area of life and exploration. As far as I can tell, there is no finishing line. There is always further to go. My stories about it are questions about the world. Reality is always more than and different from my stories about it, and also less than.
With this too, life has a lot more to show me. There is further to go in exploring, clarifying, deepening, maturing, being humbled, and living from and as it.
