Alan Watts: What you are… is simply the fabric and structure of existence itself

What you are basically, deep, deep down, far, far in, is simply the fabric and structure of existence itself.

– Alan Watts

Yes, this is obviously and inevitably true.

We are local and temporary expressions of the seamless dynamic system we call the universe or existence.

In the words of Carl Sagan: We are the local eyes, ears, thoughts, and feelings of the universe. We are the universe bringing itself into consciousness.

If we are used to thinking from a more local perspective, then this may seem deep, deep down, far, far in.

It’s also right on the surface. All that we are and do, including all that’s on the surface, are the local expressions of this dynamic universe.

This human self sitting here looking at these words, these hands and fingers, the sounds, the sensations, the consciousness it’s all happening within and as, are expressions of the universe and existence.
