In exploring text-based AI and biases, I was reminded that my orientation is pretty mainstream.
It’s not neccesarily mainstream in that it’s very common, but within each field, my orientation is pretty mainstream.
When it comes to the Universe Story, Deep Ecology, The Great Turning, Permaculture, and so on, I see it pretty much as others do. I love what others say and the work they do, and love to learn from them.
The same goes for healing, parts work, inquiry, somatic work, and so on.
In my regeneration and food forest work, I am pretty mainstream. I have a very similar orientation and approach as many if not most people doing similar work.
In my general political orientation, I am pretty mainstream for someone with my background – middle class, university educated, from Scandinavia.
In terms of awareness of our global ecological overshoot and the profound transformation needed of our civilization, my orientation is pretty similar to others aware of the same.
With my Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), my symptoms and what I find works for me is pretty common and mainstream for people with that condition.
And the same goes for awakening and understanding who and what we are, although I find I sometimes use a slightly different terminology than many. (For instance, I like to differentiate between small and big understandings of awakening, and I haven’t seen that too much out there although I am sure many are exploring the same.)
I find relief in the mainstream. It means others are doing similar types of exploration and it’s not all up to me..! We have a fellowship of people exploring similar things, and some are very good at promoting it and being public so I don’t have to do that part (which is more difficult for me).
Of course, in this way, most of us are pretty mainstream. We all may belong to different subcultures and explore niche interests, and in most cases, we share it with a community of people. We are often mainstream within each field, interest, and approach. And that’s a relief, at least for me.
