The reverse of everything I write here also has validity, as has the reverse of everything I think and every viewpoint parts of me identify with.
The only question is what kind of validity it has. What are the genuine and specific examples?
As I often mention here, thoughts are questions about the world. They have a pragmatic function in helping us orient and function in the world. They cannot hold any full, final, absolute, or exclusive truth. Reality is always more than and different from our ideas about it.
A FEW EXAMPLES
And there is some validity in every thought, and every reversal of every thought, the question is just what kind of validity is there. What are the specific and genuine examples?
For instance, I often write that I am what the world, to me, happens within and as. One reversal is that I am not what the world, to me, happens within and as. That’s true in that there is no “I” there, it’s just awake space. (And not any special kind of awakeness, just the regular kind of awakeness inherent in consciousness.) Any “I” is an idea and part of the content of experience, it’s part of what comes and goes.
I just wrote that it’s not a special kind of awakeness, which is true enough. It’s likely inherent in all consciousnesses no matter the content and expression. The reversal is that it is a special kind of awakeness. That’s true for me in that it’s an utter mystery. It’s very special in that sense, just as the existence of anything at all is a mystery and special. Also, when this awakeness notices itself, through what looks like some loops in the psyche, that’s special too in a sense, at least among humans.
I value finding the validity in a range of thoughts and their perspectives, including the reversals. The reversal is that it’s valuable to take one view and reject other views. Sometimes, in a world where many do just this, it’s important to do the same. Sometimes, it’s helpful to take a stance, speak up, stand your ground, and make something happen in that way. It’s especially important when it can help myself or someone else, when we need someone to speak up and fight for us.
