I don’t usually record my inquiries since it’s an extra layer of activity, but I thought I would write down some simple inquiries here. This is an exploration of how specific things appear in the sense fields and I use a modernized version (Kiloby Inquiries) of traditional Buddhist sense field inquiry.
ME
Me – how does it show up in my sense fields? Is it, any of it or all of it together, what I fundamentally am?
Where do you find “me” ?
I see a picture of me sitting here, overlaid on physical sensations, and notice especially physical sensations in the face area.
Feel those sensations. See how it is to notice and allow them.
Yes, I notice them. I notice they happen in awake space.
Are they “me”? Do they feel like “me”?
No, they are sensations in space. They are space appearing as sensations.
Look at the picture of you sitting there. Examine the image, the colors, texture, and so on.
I see one picture of my face and the front of my body, as seen from the inside. This picture matches, more or less, the sensations in space.
Is that picture “me”? Does it feel like “me”?
Yes, a tiny bit right in the face where it combines with the physical sensations.
Feel those sensations. Notice the quality of the sensations. Notice the space they happen within.
Are there any words connected with those sensations?
Yes, the word “me”.
Do you see it or hear it?
Both.
Look at the letters. Notice the shape, color, texture, the space around.
Are those letters “me”?
No.
Listen to the sound “me”. Notice the voice, the space the sound is happening within.
Is that sound “me”? Does it feel like “me”? Is there any charge on the sound?
Yes, a small charge.
What is the charge? How do you know there is a charge?
It’s a combination of a color (blue), an image of my mouth and throat, and the sound “me”. Together, there is a small charge there.
Look at the color. Notice the color, the texture, that it happens in space.
Is that color “me”?
No, it’s a color. In itself, there is no charge there.
Look at the image of your mouth and throat. Notice the colors, texture. Take your time.
Is that image “me”?
No, it’s an image.
Listen to the sound “me”. Say it to yourself a few times. Notice the quality of the sound.
Is that “me”? Is there a charge on it? Is it connected to something else?
Yes, I see an image of me around age twenty, and there is an uplifted feeling I associate with that time.
Feel that feeling. Notice the space around it. See if it’s made up of space. Take as much time as you want.
Is that feeling “me”? Is anything connected with it?
No, it’s a sensation.
Look at the image of you age twenty. Notice the color, texture, and so on.
Is that image “me”? Does it feel like “me”? Is anything connected with it?
Yes, it’s a kind of desired me. There is a happy feeling connected with it.
Feel that happy feeling. Notice where you notice it. Notice it as a physical sensation.
Is it “me”?
No, it’s a sensation.
Look at the image of you at twenty. Is it “me”?
No, it’s still connected with the happy feeling but it’s not me. Neither the image nor the feeling is me.
Where do you find “me”?
I seen an image of me sitting here and sensations.
Feel the sensations. Take your time.
My attention goes to the physical sensations. Notice they are space, made up of space.
Are they “me”? Do they have a charge?
No, they are sensations.
Look at the image of you sitting there.
Is that image “me”?
No, it’s an image.
Notice what’s here.
Where do you find “me”?
I don’t find it.
Open your eyes. Where do you find “me”? What feels like “me”?
I don’t find it, not in the sense of something that has a charge.
I can find it in a conventional sense, as this human being sitting here.
Rest in noticing and allowing what’s here.
Is it already noticed and allowed? How is it to notice it’s already allowed and noticed?
It’s liberating to notice. There is a sense of a slight effort here, and that’s already allowed and noticed too along with the rest of the field of experience.
There is an alignment with the allowing and noticing that’s already here, that goes before any conscious noticing of it, before any effort, before any reflection of it in words.
