When I think back to yesterday morning, it seems like an eternity ago, it feels like yesterday, it feels like it happened in a dream, it feels like this present in another form.
All of those are true in their own way.
It’s an eternity ago since it’s in the past, and the past is not here other than in mental images and words.
It feels like yesterday because a thought tells me it was yesterday. My mental representations keeping track of time has an imaginary timeline, and those memories are placed in the spot labeled “yesterday morning”. I know it must have been yesterday morning because there are no days between then and today.
It feels like it happened in a dream because, in a sense, it did. It happened within and as the consciousness I am. To me, now, it’s a mental image just like a dream.
It viscerally feels like the present in another form. It was the present, this timeless now, taking another form than it does now. As it always does.
This timeless now is inherently free of time. It’s what allows change and a sense of time. It’s what my mental representations of time – of a timeline, of things happening on the timeline – happens within and as. It’s timeless and timefull.
It’s what I fundamentally, to myself, am. I am timeless and timefull and the part of this human self that loves that and loves when it’s noticed.
