I know for certain I will die within a few weeks or months. It’s inevitable.
That’s the dream image I woke up with it. In the dream, there was a moment of shock and dread, some things coming up to be digested, and this gave way to peace. It was a strong and vivid dream.
What’s this about? It may suggest a death of who and/or what I take myself to be. I may be in a process that leads to a loss of familiar identities etc., or my familiar experiential world in general. That fits my sense of the process I am in these days.
Of course, it may not be dramatic. We all die as what we are and are reborn as something else. That’s how it is with everything and everyone all the time.
It also brings up some questions:
- What in me may be ready to die so I can live more fully?
- If I only had a few weeks left, what would my main priorities be? How would it be to bring that into my life now?
I am exploring self-hatred, unlovable, and so on. Is that what’s about to die, at least in its current form? I am exploring it through (a) seeing that the painful stories are not true, (b) deeply recognizing them as here to protect me and from love, and (c) viscerally noticing the contraction and images/words as being made by what I am (consciousness) and the divine.
Especially viscerally noticing it as consciousness and the divine is important for me these days. It’s easy to do, just needs a shift in attention, and helps some deep patterns in me to shift and align more with the oneness I am and existence is.
If I knew I had little time left, my main priorities would be my connection with the divine, close people in my life, and enjoying daily life.
It’s a beautiful spring day so I went to Frognerparken, sat on my favorite bench under the trees and by the waterfall, read Ambrosial Experiences about people’s experiences with Amma, and made use of a pointer from there (giving memories and everything to the divine). That is one of the things I would do if I knew I had little time left.

I asked ChatGPT about this dream in the context of what I have described in my recent London journal and the beginning Oslo journal. See below.
A Dream of Irreversible Transformation
Reading the dream in the context of the two journals, I would interpret the dream as a process dream about irreversible inner transformation.
Not “I will literally die,” but: something in the way you have been organized is already in a terminal process. And because the dream presents it as a process rather than something sudden, it suggests something systemic and already underway.
The old self-organizing pattern may be ending
In the Oslo and London journals, the central themes are very clear: self-hatred, unlovability, freeze/collapse, staying small, self-sabotage, difficulty receiving love, and difficulty trusting your inner guidance.
So one reading is:
The old pattern itself is dying.
Not because the pattern is bad or wrong, but because it has spread through the system. It touches love, work, visibility, guidance, body, energy, relationships, receiving, resting, and acting on your own behalf. It began as protection, but over time it became life-limiting.
So the dream may say:
This pattern has reached the end of its viability. It cannot remain the main organizing principle anymore.
The one who dies may be the “me” organized around protection
The dream says: “I will die.” That may mean the “I” that is dying is the familiar identity built around:
“I am unlovable.”
“It is safer to be small.”
“If I shine, I will be attacked.”
“If something is deeply good, I need to end it before it ends me.”
“My needs are dangerous or shameful.”
“I should not trust my own knowing.”
You are already seeing this clearly in the journals.
So the dream may be from the perspective of that structure. To that identity, what is happening now really does feel like death.
It is not just “healing.” It is the collapse of a whole survival system.
The inevitability is important
The dream has certainty: it is inevitable. That seems significant.
It may reflect that this process is no longer optional. You have been called into self-healing since the sale of your childhood home, through the months at Amma’s ashram, through London, and now in Oslo. You are describing a process that feels deeply right and connected with your inner knowing.
So the inevitability may not be threatening. It may be the psyche saying:
This deeper process has already begun. You cannot go back to unconsciousness in the same way.
You may still have waves of fear, fatigue, reactivity, grief, or old material. But the direction is set.
The old pattern may have separated from the whole
The dream image suggests something in the system that began as protection but lost relationship with the whole.
That may be a precise symbol for self-hatred. It likely began as an attempt to keep you safe. It tried to protect you from abandonment, attack, shame, disappointment, and the vulnerability of being visible and alive. But over time, it began acting against life. It “protected” you by suppressing aliveness, love, visibility, needs, and flourishing.
Your current practice is the opposite movement. You are bringing the isolated pattern back into relationship with the whole — through surrender, prayer, noticing contractions as the divine, allowing, welcoming, thanking, and befriending.
That is a movement from separation to reintegration.
The shock giving way to peace
You mentioned that in the dream there was shock and dread, which gave way to peace.
That feels central.
The first reaction belongs to the personality and the threatened survival structure:
I am dying.
The later peace may belong to a deeper knowing:
What is dying needs to die.
Not violently. Not with rejection. Not with “kill this part.” More like: this pattern can die through being met, understood, loved, surrendered, and recognized as consciousness, as the divine, as Amma.
That fits your current way of working: not pushing away, but allowing, welcoming, thanking, befriending, seeing as the divine, and letting it reorganize.
It may also be about the death of postponement
The dream gives you only weeks or months. That brings urgency, but perhaps not panic. It asks what becomes obvious when time is short.
And you already answered that in the journal: your main priorities would be connection with the divine, close people, and enjoying daily life.
That may be one of the cleanest messages of the dream.
It strips away secondary projects, compensations, and endless healing-as-future-salvation, and returns you to what matters now:
connection with the divine, love, simplicity, ordinary enjoyment, truth, kindness toward the wounded parts, and living from what you know.
Overall reading
I would summarize it this way:
The dream shows the old survival identity as terminal. The self organized around unlovability, self-hatred, hiding, freezing, and sabotaging aliveness is in a process of dying. It experiences this as the end because the pattern has become systemic and life-limiting. But the deeper movement is healing and reintegration: the old protective structure is being surrendered back to the divine, recognized as consciousness, and allowed to reorganize. The shock is the threatened identity. The peace is the deeper knowing that this death is necessary and already underway.
