Inquiry and healing & maturing

It is common to experience both healing (short term) and maturing (longer term) through inquiry and The Work. It is not important why it happens, but i am still curious. What do I find when I explore it in own experience?

I find that in wounds, there is a stuckness in one or a few closely related perspectives on a situation, and in these particular stories, I make myself into a victim.

Through inquiry, I enrich my view on the situation. I get to see it from a much wider range of viewpoints, and find the grain of truth in each. And more than that, when I allow it to sink in, I feel it. It shifts how I relate to the situation in a deeper way. I am released out of the initial perspective and role, and into a wider and richer set of viewpoints and roles. And that invites in healing. Some of it may happen right away, but most of it happens gradually over time, often helped by additional inquiries and also from living from some of the most juicy turnarounds to the initial belief.

And the maturing happens in much the same way. Immaturity is partly, or largely, to be stuck in a few and rigid viewpoints and roles. As I get familiar and more comfortable with a wider set of viewpoints and roles, and live from it in my daily life, there is an invitation for becoming more mature. To deepen into who I am when thoughts, feelings, and actions are less restricted by beliefs.

This is just one viewpoint as well, of course. There are many ways to talk about it. I could talk about the healing and maturing that comes from self-acceptance. The shift that happens when I find genuine appreciation for something I previously had a “should” about, and it goes from being a problem for me to a support. What happens when I – through inquiry – a more able to allow, welcome, and be with emotions. Or something else equally valid and an equally good pointer.
